Mobile Banking: Identity Verification (KYC) in a React Native App

As part of a mobile banking application, identity verification for new customers (Know Your Customer, KYC) was to happen directly in the app — from capturing the identity document to submitting the verified data.

The flow had to work reliably across a wide range of iOS and Android devices — with different cameras, lighting conditions and OS versions.

Regulatory requirements and high security standards left little room for shortcuts.

The user guidance had to be clear enough for customers to complete the process without help.
